Trilha Caminhos do Peabiru

About the trail

  • Difficulty:Moderate
  • Extension:125 km

A pre-Columbian transcontinental route, widely used by Brazilian indigenous peoples and primitive Andean cultures. Designated as the "path" or "system" of Peabiru, it connected the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific in a way that is surprising even to modern man. Its presence on the continent is undeniable, and its historical importance is indisputable - it enabled the migration and exchange of various indigenous cultures across the continent, the discovery of riches, the establishment of religious missions, trade exchanges, and the founding of villages and cities. This network of ancestral roads has now transformed into the long-distance trail project "Caminhos do Peabiru." Foz do Iguaçu, one of the world's main tourist destinations, is also the HUB connecting various trails that converge to form the Transcontinental Route Caminhos do Peabiru.
