About the protected area
- Total Area:3,168 km²
A federal protected area in the “SUSTAINABLE USE” category, CREATED by Federal Decree No. 529 of May 20, 1992. Located in the Pampa Biome and administered by ICMBio – Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade, it has an area of 318,767 hectares and covers municipalities on the western border of RS - Quaraí, Alegrete, Santana do Livramento and Rosário do Sul.
