About the protected area
- Total Area:15 km²
Created by decree No. 2,993-N in 1990 and named in 1994 in honor of biologist Paulo César Vinha, Paulo César Vinha State Park aims to preserve the restinga, a threatened ecosystem of the Atlantic Forest. The area is home to a great diversity of environments, such as lagoons, dunes, and flooded plains, as well as various plant formations, including the Dry Forest and the Herbaceous Swamp. The park is home to endangered species such as the crown-of-thorns and the black hedgehog, as well as endemic species like tree frogs and dragonflies. The Caraís Lagoon is one of the main attractions of the site. The park also integrates the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of Setiba, which protects the adjacent restinga areas and the marine region of the Três Ilhas archipelago.
