Parque Nacional da Amazônia

About the protected area

  • Total Area:10,849 km²

Known as the gateway to the Amazon, this was the first national park created in the biome, in 1974. The park protects headwaters of the Tapajós River and the biodiversity around the Transamazônica highway, and it is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May to November is the dry (and hotter) season, which makes it easier to reach the trails. Parque Nacional da Amazônia has full facilities, and its bases have restrooms and parking for visitors. Find out more at https://entreparquesbr.com.br/amazonia/ Image credits: entreparquesbr
