Parque Nacional do Pantanal Matogrossense

About the protected area

  • Total Area:1,356 km²

Parque Nacional do Pantanal Matogrossense is the only national park in the Pantanal biome. The main activity is traveling along the rivers to spot wildlife, and a visit to the ICMBio base requires advance booking. There are also rock paintings in the region, and the Serra do Amolar, where a long-distance trail is being implemented, borders the park. The best time for wildlife spotting is from April to October, during the dry season. However, the fires around June have been intense.
