Trecho 11 - Centro de Silva Jardim

About the trail

  • Difficulty:Moderate
  • Extension:22.44 km

Silva Jardim stands out scenically as one of the main hubs of ecotourism and environmental preservation in the state, being considered a true ecological sanctuary integrated into the Atlantic Forest biome. In addition to its cultural and historical richness, the region thrives through food production and the strengthening of family agriculture. The territory is marked by pioneering efforts and ecological records; it is the Cradle of Conservation for housing the largest population of golden lion tamarins on the planet. It is nationally pioneering for creating the first biological reserve in the country (Poço das Antas) and the first wildlife overpass in Brazil, which connects the forests of Poço das Antas to the Mico-Leão-Dourado Ecological Park over the BR 101 highway. It also consolidates itself as one of the municipalities with the highest number of Private Natural Heritage Reserves (RPPNs) in the entire country.
