During the hike, it is possible to observe various species of fauna, such as the purple-faced parrot, tanager, paca, capuchin monkey, howler monkey, agoutis, and armadillos; as well as flora, including araçapirangas and guaricicas. The field of low-growing bromeliads extends for a long stretch to the place where the fire comes out of the ground - a low area with an extensive layer of peat that retains methane gas in the soil, and when a small hole is opened, it allows a flame to emerge.
