Caminhos da Serra do Mar

About the trail

  • Difficulty:Hard
  • Extension:200 km

Photo: Collection Paths of the Serra do Mar The Paths of the Serra do Mar traverse several municipalities and cut through some of the conservation units of the Central Fluminense Atlantic Forest Mosaic. Among the environments visited throughout the route, the various ecosystems associated with the Atlantic Forest biome stand out, such as slope forests, high-altitude fields, as well as rocky cliffs, peaks, pools, and waterfalls. The main objective of creating this trail is to promote environmental conservation in the Serra do Mar, integrating various units of the mosaic and providing a strategy for the orderly public use of protected spaces. Additionally, the Paths of the Serra do Mar are spaces for mountaineering, hiking, contemplation, recreation, and leisure. Among the most well-known options are the Caminho do Ouro, the Cobiçado Ventania Crossing, the Uricanal Trail, Morro do Açu, the Petrópolis x Teresópolis Crossing (Açu x Sino), and the Pedra do Sino.
