Belém x Caraparu (Trecho 1 | Trilha Amazônia Atlântica)

Among the seven sections of the Amazon Atlantic Trail, this is the most urban. As it crosses the metropolitan region of Belém, the trail provides a unique integration of the rich natural and cultural heritage of the capital of Pará. During the journey, you will visit some of the city's main tourist attractions, such as the Ver-o-Peso Market, the Teatro da Paz, the Praça da República, the Basilica of Nazaré, the Zoobotanical Park of the Emílio Goeldi Museum, and the Rodrigues Alves Forest. This section also includes the route taken during the Círio de Nazaré, acknowledging the pilgrims who come from afar for their pilgrimage. Other attractions of the section include the Utinga State Park, perfect for hiking and birdwatching, especially for the golden parakeet; the Bolonha and Água Preta Lakes, which offer stunning landscapes; and the Amazon Metropolis Wildlife Refuge, a true sanctuary of biodiversity. Be sure to cool off in the rivers and streams, especially at the wonderful Caraparu Spa. Also, take the opportunity to try the delicious local cuisine, with açaí being one of the main gastronomic attractions. Stay alert and follow safety guidelines while traveling the 20 km along the busy BR-316 highway towards the municipality of Benevides. From this point, you will pass through beautiful scenery formed by various streams and rural communities along a peaceful path that reveals the natural beauties of the Santa Isabel do Pará region. Some sandy areas may present an additional challenge, but overall, you will travel on dirt roads without major obstacles until you reach the welcoming Feijoal Community. This charming village is known for the hospitality of its residents and for having a small beach on the banks of the Caraparu River, the perfect spot for a refreshing swim. The final destination of this section of the Amazon Atlantic Trail is the village of Caraparu.
